Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University (ÇOMÜ) — known in Turkish as Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart Üniversitesi — is a public university in Çanakkale, on the Dardanelles strait in northwestern Turkey. Founded on 3 July 1992, the university is named after 18 March (Onsekiz Mart) — the date of the Ottoman naval victory at the Dardanelles in 1915, a defining moment in the Gallipoli Campaign and Turkish national history.
