Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University (NÖHÜ) — known in Turkish as Niğde Ömer Halisdemir Üniversitesi — is a public university in the city of Niğde, in central Anatolia near Ankara. Founded in 1992 as Niğde University, the institution was renamed in 2016 in honour of Ömer Halisdemir, a Turkish soldier who was killed during the July 2016 attempted coup while resisting the coup plotters; his name carries strong national symbolism.
