Alternatif Bank was founded in 1975 as the first private commercial bank in Qatar, and quickly became one of the leading financial institutions in the Qatari economy thanks to its modern banking technology and pioneering services.

The bank entered Turkey's banking industry in 1991, offering banking services to both individuals and companies. It now operates 48 branches with around 1,000 employees and an ATM network of 6,500 points.
