Erzincan Binali Yıldırım University (EBYÜ) — known in Turkish as Erzincan Binali Yıldırım Üniversitesi — is a public university in Erzincan, in eastern Anatolia. Although the modern university was reorganised under its current name in 2018, its institutional roots trace back to 1976, when an engineering academy was founded in Erzincan under the Ministry of Education. The university was renamed in 2018 to honour Binali Yıldırım, the Turkish politician who served as Prime Minister (2016–2018) and is from the Erzincan region.
Language of instruction: Both Turkish and English options across various programs. The university also supports an evening-education system, which is useful for working students.
Structure: The university operates 11 faculties and 26 research and applied-research centres.
Notable faculties:
Admission: EBYÜ accepts SAT, YÖS, high-school diplomas, and a broad range of international diplomas. Registration typically opens in July each year. Apply at obs.ebyu.edu.tr.
Tuition (international students): Approximately $500–1,500 per year for most undergraduate programs; medicine and dentistry are higher (~$2,500–4,500).
Scholarships: Türkiye Bursları covers tuition, housing, stipend, and travel for accepted international students.
Living in Erzincan: Erzincan is a mid-sized city in eastern Anatolia at ~1,200 m altitude, with cold snowy winters and a traditional regional character. Cost of living is well below western Turkey — student rent typically $120–250/month. The city sits on the Euphrates river and is reachable from Erzurum (~2 hours) and by bus from Ankara (~10 hours).
Recognition: Diplomas are accredited by Turkey's YÖK (Higher Education Council) and recognised across the Arab world. EBYÜ is particularly attractive to students who want a public university with broad admission options (accepts many international diplomas) at low cost in eastern Anatolia.
Verify which international diplomas are currently accepted (the list expands over time) and which programs accept SAT vs YÖS directly with the university before applying.
