İzmir Democracy University (İDÜ) — known in Turkish as İzmir Demokrasi Üniversitesi — is a public university founded in 2016 in İzmir, Turkey's third-largest city, on the Aegean coast. The university was established as part of Turkey's effort to expand higher-education capacity in the western Aegean region, and is officially accredited by the Turkish Council of Higher Education (YÖK).
