Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University (MSKÜ) — known in Turkish as Muğla Sıtkı Koçman Üniversitesi — is the only public university in Muğla, a coastal province on Turkey's Aegean and southwestern Mediterranean coast. Founded in 1992, the university takes its second name from Sıtkı Koçman, the Turkish businessman who provided substantial financial and institutional support to its founding.
Language of instruction: Both Turkish and English options across most programs. The university supports an evening-education system for working students.
Open admission for Arab high schools: A distinctive advantage — MSKÜ does not require YÖS or SAT for many programs and accepts all Arab high-school diplomas directly. This makes the application process simpler for many international students compared to most Turkish public universities.
Double-major option: Qualified students can study two degrees simultaneously and receive two separate diplomas.
Structure: The university operates 20 faculties and 47 research and applied-research centres — making it one of the larger regional public universities in Turkey.
Notable faculties:
Admission: MSKÜ accepts SAT, MSKÜYÖS (the university's own YÖS exam), and high-school diplomas with adequate GPA. Apply at uik.basvuru.mu.edu.tr.
Tuition (international students): Approximately $500–1,500 per year for most undergraduate programs; medicine, dentistry, and veterinary medicine are higher (~$2,500–4,500).
Scholarships: Türkiye Bursları (full government scholarship) is the main pathway for fully funded international study.
Living in Muğla: Muğla city sits inland in mountainous terrain, but the province is famous for Bodrum, Marmaris, Fethiye, and Dalaman — among Turkey's most popular coastal tourist destinations. The province has a Mediterranean climate, dramatic coastline, and ferry/airport connections to Greek islands. Student rent in Muğla city typically runs $200–400/month. The Aegean lifestyle is more relaxed and Mediterranean than central Anatolian Turkish cities.
Recognition: Diplomas are accredited by Turkey's YÖK (Higher Education Council) and recognised across the Arab world. MSKÜ's open admission policy, English-medium options, and Aegean coastal location make it especially attractive for students who want to combine a Turkish public-university education with a Mediterranean lifestyle.
Verify which Arab high-school diplomas qualify and the current GPA cutoffs directly with the university before applying.
