Necmettin Erbakan University (NEÜ) is a public university located in Konya, central Turkey. Founded in 2010 and named after former Turkish Prime Minister Necmettin Erbakan (1996–1997), the university carries a religiously-conscious academic identity and ranks among the top 60 universities in Turkey.
Languages of instruction: Arabic, Turkish, and English — NEÜ is one of the few Turkish public universities offering full Arabic-medium programs alongside Turkish and English tracks. Evening classes are available for working students.
Campus and academics: 15 faculties, 25 research and applied centres. A double-major option allows students to study two specialisations simultaneously and graduate with two separate diplomas.
Notable faculties:
Admission paths: NEÜ accepts SAT, YÖS, and Tawjihi (high school) certificates. Applications go through the official portal at yos.erbakan.edu.tr.
Tuition (international students): Approximately $300–600 USD per academic year for undergraduate programs — one of the lowest fee structures in Turkey relative to academic quality. Medicine and dentistry programs are priced slightly higher.
Scholarships: NEÜ accepts students enrolled in the Turkish government's Türkiye Bursları scholarship, which provides full tuition, monthly stipend, housing, health insurance, and travel.
Accommodation: Students can apply for state-run KYK dormitories ($50–100/month), private student dorms, or shared apartments in Konya. The cost of living in Konya is notably lower than Istanbul — typical monthly expenses run $300–500.
Turkish-language preparation: The university operates a TÖMER preparatory year for students whose Turkish needs strengthening before joining their main program.
Recognition: Diplomas are accredited by Turkey's Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and recognised by most Arab countries through standard equivalency procedures.
